Summer Break

Apparently July is the month for wacky governors and dead celebrities.

The media, and seemingly the entire country, has forgotten about pesky little issues like Iran, North Korea, our crappy economy, and several pieces of potentially groundbreaking legislation about to hit Congress. Normally, I’d be really upset by this. Instead, I’m amused.

I’d like to thank Governors Palin and Sanford, and deceased celebs MJ, Billie Mays, Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, etc. for providing much needed relief from the more weighty issues of the day. After all, the kids get a summer break — news buffs should, too.

In the spirit of summer break, I’m not going to put on my “sarcastic” hat and skewer Governor Palin, the latest in a string of interesting (though mostly irrelevant) news stories. I couldn’t possibly do justice to the absolute hilarity of the Palin resignation, so instead, here are two women who can: Maureen Dowd and Gail Collins, both of the the New York Times.

Soon enough, the real news will come back. Until it does, let’s sit back and enjoy the wacky side of current events.
